Express Entry – Skilled Trade

In order to be eligible for this program, potential candidates must FISRT apply and create a profile through Express Entry. Express entry was specifically designed to filter out candidates in order to determine eligibility for federal programs, and thus creating faster and more efficient selection processes. The Skilled Trade federal economic immigration program is directed for applicants who have skilled trade work experience. Skilled trades are categorized and determined by the National Occupational Classification. Some examples of these would be:

  • industrial, electrical and construction trades
  • maintenance and equipment operation trades
  • supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production
  • processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators
  • chefs and cooks
  • butchers and bakers

*** Please note you must plan to live outside the province of Quebec to be eligible for this program. The province of Quebec has a separate immigration program and slightly different criteria’s. More information is provided in the Quebec Skilled Immigrants tab***

Upon qualifying into one of these categories, the applicant will be placed in a competitive pool with other qualified candidates. Selection processes by employers will be based on the applicant’s ability to demonstrate through their profile the ability to show their experience and talent.
