Passport client experience survey announced
Selected people who received a Canadian passport during the first half of 2026 may receive a voluntary survey invitation.

What this notice is about
On July 30, 2026, the Government of Canada published a notice about a client experience survey being sent to people who received a Canadian passport between January 1 and June 30, 2026. From August through October 2026, a random sample of these passport recipients may receive an email invitation — or an invitation included with their new passport — to complete a voluntary survey about their experience with the Passport Program. The survey is administered on the government's behalf by the research firm Advanis, takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes, and is offered in both official languages.
IRCC has been specific about how the real survey will appear: it will be sent from the email address canpassport2026@advanis.net, with a link beginning with "surveys.advanis.ca/passport2026," and recipients will never be asked for their passport number or personal financial information.
Why it matters
Two things make this notice worth reading rather than skimming past. First, it is a genuine, government-sanctioned quality-improvement exercise: participation is voluntary and confidential, and it has no effect — positive or negative — on any past, current, or future passport application. Second, and just as important, it is exactly the kind of official-sounding communication that scammers like to imitate. Fraudulent emails and texts that mimic government surveys, refund notices, or "verification" requests are common, and a real government notice that describes precisely what the real survey looks like gives you a reliable way to tell the two apart before you click anything or hand over information.
What this means for you
If you received a Canadian passport in the first half of 2026 and later get an email or insert claiming to be this survey, check it against the details the government has published: it should come from canpassport2026@advanis.net, link to an address starting with surveys.advanis.ca/passport2026, and it will never ask for your passport number, banking details, or other financial information. If a message asks for that kind of information, or comes from a different address or link, treat it as suspicious, do not respond, and do not click through.
Participating in the legitimate survey is entirely optional, and declining will not affect any immigration or passport matter you may have before the government, including any application our office may be assisting you with. If you are ever unsure whether a communication claiming to be from IRCC or the Passport Program is genuine, it is reasonable to pause and verify independently — through canada.ca directly — rather than relying on the message itself.
